Date and Walnut Chocolate Cake


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup of walnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder

Method: 

  1. Chop the dates finely. Pour half a cup of hot water into a bowl with baking soda and dates. Keep it aside to soften.
  2. In a bowl, add the walnuts into the flour. 
  3. Beat the butter and sugar together until smooth and creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla essence and beat. Next add the soaked dates.
  4. Lastly add the flour with walnuts, cocoa powder, and baking powder and gently stir with a spoon.
  5.  Bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius in an oven that was pre-heated for 10 minutes.
