Pepper Beef with Roasted Potatoes

This is a very easy dish with just 3-4  ingredients which are readily available in all homes. Learnt it from my Anglo Indian mum in law. Don't judge the dish by the miniscule ingredients or the simplicity of preparation involved, it brings out the lovely aroma of the beef combined with a peppery sauce. Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:

Beef - cut into thin flat slices -1 kg
Onions - 2 large cut into rings
peppercorns - 1-2 tsp's coarsely ground fresh
Ginger garlic paste - 1 and a half tbsp. heaped
vinegar - 1 rsp or a dash  and salt to taste
Potatoes - cut into circles and fried seperately

Method:

1. Take about 2 tbsp's of oil in a pressure cooker or an instant pot.
 2. Add the sliced onion rings. Fry until just transparent. Take care and do not let it brown. Add the vinegar( this avoids the further browning of the onions) and add the ginger garlic paste. Fry for a minute and add the beef.
3. Fry the beef and add the pepper powder and salt. Stir well. Now the juices of the meat will start releasing and here at this stage you can feel the lovely aroma of the meat and pepper. Fry for another 5 minutes. Don't dry all these juices. Add a cup of water and close the cooker.
4.  Cook on a high flame until you hear  the first whistle and on a slow fire for 15 minutes or earlier depending on your cooker and the cut of the meat.
5. Fry the potatoes seperately and serve with the meat or you can add them to the cooker after the first whistle.
6. Enjoy with plain rice or accompaniments like stir fried veggies and mash and boiled veggies and garlic bread and a salad.
